Post-graduate studies
The LDSA, in collaboration with the Institute for Demographic Studies of the University of Montesquieu-Bordeaux IV of France, has been working for the twelve years (2005-2017) of the Greek-French Postgraduate Program (PP). This particular MSc has awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Demography and Economics of Development and Integration in the direction of "Population, Development and Strategic Prospects" with the acronym PODEPRO (Population, Développement, Prospective). Purpose of the PP was the specialization of graduates of various schools on issues related to the two-way relationships between demography and sustainable development, knowledge of which is one of the basic prerequisites for strategic planning in all spatial scales. This particular BSc. hence aimed at the production of executives who would play a decisive advisory role in decision-making in areas that are central and regional development planning. The theoretical and practical education of students was based on an interdisciplinary approach which was required by the nature of the above-mentioned scientific fields.
The BSc. was of one year duration and had no tuition fees. It included two semesters of study, internship, exercise report and postgraduate diploma thesis. Teaching and examinations in this Master's degree were conducted in French and the main literature was in French and English. Graduates of this postgraduate course in his ten-year period are 80, of which 15 were graduates of Greek universities. The scientific staff of this PMS was the professors: Vyron Kotzamanis, Director of LDSA and Christophe Bergouignan, Director of the Institute of Demographic Studies (IEDUB), University of Montesquieu-Bordeaux IV.
